I’m a member of the Pirate Party of Catalonia. I would like to offer myself to translate this post and the survey to Catalan and Spanish. I also would like to point out a couple of issue with the survey: (1) it would prove useful to be able to check and change your answers after an initial submission, and (2) it seems that one individual can submit the survey more than once just my providing different e-mail addresses.
Thank you for your offer but there is a problem: the survey plugin we use does not support multilanguage surveys. The plugin is rather simple and that was one of the reasons I chose it for. It’s easy to get startet with and works out of the box. The multilanguage plugin we use on the other hand can help us make translated versions of ‘posts’ and ‘pages’ but not of other third party plugins. The only solution would be to have a seperate survey for each language and merge these surveys by hand afterwards. If you think this is worth all the trouble than you can do the translations here: http://piratepad.eu/Survey-translations
Regarding the other two issues: (1) as mentioned before, the plugin is rather simple. We’ll find one with more features for the next survey. (2) We have to rely on the honesty of people. All measures to avoid this (cookies, IP-recording …) can be circumvented. The only promising way would be to send out tokens to allow people to fill out the survey only once. Problem is that we would need a European Pirate database for sending out these tokens and this database does not exist.
This blog is the result of the collaborative work of several individuals, not reprenting anyone or anything but themselves. Opinions expressed are that of the authors only. Please read our first post "Hello World!" for more information about who we are (and who we are not).
